One of the most cherished establishments in Pass-a-Grille is set to make its long-awaited return. Seahorse Restaurant, the beloved breakfast and lunch spot at 800 Pass a Grille Way, is nearing its grand reopening nearly a full year and a half since hurricane damage forced a long-term closure.

An official opening date has not yet been set, though it could be as soon as the first week of February according to social media posts, as the family-owned restaurant goes through the finishing touches of its renovation.

The historic Seahorse Restaurant has been a favorite among locals and tourists alike since it first opened in 1938, dishing up classic diner breakfast and lunch every day in a relaxed, familial setting. In fact, the restaurant was just named an official Historic Marker back in 2024 to commemorate its nearly century-long status in the community.

Pass-a-Grille, established in 1911, is a community steeped in history, where the past comes alive in every block. The Seahorse embodies this heritage, located in an area once described by Robert Ripley of Believe It or Not! fame as home to “America’s Shortest and Most Beautiful Main Street.”

The Seahorse is joining the list of local treasures that have made their triumphant returns after the devastation of the 2024 hurricane season. That first meal back will make the long wait well worth it.
